Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician
Job description: Fairgreen is a family run business that farms over 3000 acres in York and northern Durham region. We require someone to join the team who can assist with servicing, repairing and maintaining a fleet of equipment ranging from trucks, heavy equipment, highway trucks, farm equipment and automated sod harvesters.
Education and Experience: No license is required, however licensed heavy equipment mechanic/apprentice or 310T mechanic/apprentice would be considered an asset.
Payrate/Compensation: $35+/
Duties:
- Primarily service various types of equipment, vehicles and machinery required for the operation of a sod company that harvests and delivers sod, in addition to other products.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, cleaning and rebuilding as needs arise. Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, winches, side booms and masts.
- Ensuring vehicles are maintained within guidelines and standards to ensure safe and efficient operation. Inspect equipment to identify defects or malfunctions.
- Driving to the location of a vehicle that requires emergency servicing.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with truck drivers, harvesters, Farm Manager, suppliers and other trades. Keep records of repairs, time, parts used and orders placed.
- May perform other duties assigned by management, with the understanding that this is a farm and flexibility and teamwork is an important component in determining the success of this role.
Skills:
- The ability to diagnose and troubleshoot unexpected breakdowns occurring during the operation of the business.
- Prioritize tasks, order parts, communicate clearly and concisely with colleague’s and suppliers. Able to follow instructions and also work independently.
- Possess a valid drivers’ license.
- Proficient at reading and understanding schematics and technical information. Experience working with trucks, heavy equipment and farm machinery repair is an asset. Has a mechanical aptitude, skilled at hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Forklift license is an asset.
- Flexible with time and duties performed, as agriculture is heavily influenced and affected by weather and business demands.

Job Title: Front Office Customer Service Rep
Job Summary: In a team orientated environment, the front office customer service rep builds customer relationships through assisting homeowners and businesses with orders and inquiries in order to achieve high customer satisfaction and retention.
Duties:

- The successful candidate will be required to interact with customers both on the phone and in person. Answering questions, taking and processing orders using both an online and POS system.
- Stock in-store inventory.
- Participate in covid cleaning schedule.
Skills:

- The successful candidate must be polite with a good work ethic.
- Comes with a willingness to learn product details and procedures in order to effectively interact with customers.
- Is able to work in a team-setting providing friendly and professional service to homeowners, businesses and colleagues.

Work Schedule: We are a seasonal weather driven business (April to December). During the season Fairgreen Sod Farms is open Monday thru Saturday with varying hours. Due to the nature of the business, a flexible work schedule is customary. Opportunity for multiple season employment will be available for successful candidates.
Specific requirements: You must have reliable transportation to and from our office on Hwy. 48. The closest public transportation is one kilometre away with no sidewalks.

Job Title: AZ Truck Driver
Job description: Delivers products to homeowners and businesses in the GTA. Transports products to and from various locations within southern Ontario.
Education and Experience: Valid AZ license with a clean abstract. Forklift license preferred.
Duties:
- To deliver products to our customers throughout the GTA with a truck mounted forklift.
- Drivers are expected to perform daily maintenance on their equipment, including complete circle checks, filling out paperwork, replacing lights as needed and greasing equipment on a regular basis.
- They will also be required to maintain a clean and organized truck.
- Other duties may be assigned based on business demands, such as preparing bags of soil for customer orders.
- You must also be able to use digital technology to record deliveries completed, clock in and out, and report required maintenance to the mechanics.
Skills:
- The successful candidate must be able to read, write and speak English competently.
- The ability to effectively communicate with the office and customers over the phone is a requirement.
- They must also be able to effectively navigate all areas of the GTA.
- Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs.
Pay Rate:
- $29 +/hour depending on skills/experience.
- Employee Benefits are available for fulltime employees.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Saturday (Saturdays are usually half days)
- We are a seasonal business (April to December) which require longer hours during our busy season April to June (12hrs/day).
- Due to the nature of the business, a flexible work schedule is customary.
Job Start and End Dates: Mid April (weather dependent) – December (possibly longer)
Specific requirements: CSA approved footwear is required as well has high visibility clothing that is appropriate for the weather; we work in all weather conditions. It is also necessary to have a cell phone to communicate with the office when issues and modified instructions arise.
Other: Drivers will start their shifts either at our main yard, located on Hwy. 48 just north of Major Mackenzie, or at one of our farms throughout the Zephyr, Pefferlaw or Beaverton areas depending on where sod is being harvested
